Inspiring Blog about Jung SuWon

You can’t really know much about martial art schools unless you can live the experience. The problem with martial arts is that it is an imported discipline to the West. How can we really judge if we are getting the best training?

Of course it doesn’t help that we most likely got introduced to Kung Fu and Karate from the mass media with so many of the movies that we see being no more then silly fantasies and even kung-fu cartoons. I just read a great blog post by a student of Jung SuWon“>Jung SuWon which was founded by Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim.

I was so impressed that I’m writing this to share with others. This is actually a series of posts that I am hoping the student will continue to add to. This person is both articulate and well educated, having attended Dartmouth College. What is very interesting is that before SarahSmile, no its not person’s real name, became involved with Jung SuWon she was on the college martial arts team competing with other Ivy League colleges. Sarah really brings the experience to life. You really get a sense that Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim takes things to another level, that you get to the heart of the spirit of this discipline, that it makes for a very positive influence over your total life, not when you just on the mats. The testing to become a black belt is really intense. I suppose most people are going to be taken aback by this level of the challenge. The problem is that most of us just sit at a desk all day and the only exercise we get is moving our fingers on a keyboard. But honestly, how many of us can still do the simple discipline of going to the gym or taking a daily walk? I can’t tell from the timeline but SarahSmile has been at this at least six years, the time it took to get a black belt. She recalls before training with Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim and when she was in college training with another master, as she says it seemed so superficial. Tae Yun Kim took her to an entirely new level.

Well, I am not quite ready to get into the martial arts but at least this helped me get off my duff & actually think about getting started.
