Stealing Blinds-Know Your Opponents

It’s established that stealing blinds is a necessary part of any poker player’s game. Stealing blinds keeps you in the casino online and makes your opponents more tentative when they play poker against you. While it can replenish and sometimes build up your chip stack, attempting to steal blinds can also help to break you if it’s done against the wrong opponents, so it pays to know from whom you’re stealing. Some players refuse to give up their blinds, so unless you’ve got a strong starting hand, there’s no point in trying to buy their blinds. It’s annoying, but you should be able to recognize early in the game who these players are, so you can avoid an ill-fated stealing attempt.

A bit more complicated is the situation when someone acting after you places a re-raise. It’s not an ideal situation, but don’t panic just yet. When you get re-raised, sit back and assess the player. Is he usually a passive player? If so, the solution is simple-he’s probably got the cards to beat you and folding would be a smart move. If he’s usually aggressive, then he could be attempting to call your bluff and scare you out. Could be a good idea to fold unless you’ve got a good pair in your hand.
