This term should be familiar to anyone who has bought prime tickets to a big game or concert at the last minute by making a deal with a guy who yells “Got two here!” in the stadium parking lot. The guy in the lot bought the tickets earlier at the lowest possible price. He has no desire to attend the event. His goal is to negotiate a deal at a higher price from a desperate fan and to pocket the difference as profit. It is a common practice despite local laws that can send the seller, and sometimes the buyer, to the pokey.
That is the essence of the “scalp.” The same thing happens in the markets, more or less, and the scalper doesn’t have to worry about a cop slapping handcuffs on him. Traders scalp by jumping in and out of positions throughout the session in hopes of making a series of small profits. They aren’t interested in owning the particular stock, futures contract or commodity. They’re interested in timing and momentum. It’s the quintessential “buy low, sell high” tactic.
Say, for example, company ABC announces good news before the open. The best scalpers will get into ABC when the news hits and before floor trading begins. When the stock pops in the opening minutes, the scalper will quickly sell for a profit of a point or two.
Later in the morning the momentum usually reverses on the news-driven stock as other traders take their profits. That’s when the scalper sells ABC short, watches it decline by perhaps a point and then covers the short for another winning trade. If the news is strong enough, ABC will start moving higher again and the scalper will go long for another quick gain. This can continue all day long.
If the momentum in ABC tails off, the scalper will look for another target of opportunity.
There is another, similar term, “scalping,” which refers to the practice of getting shares of stock for an Initial Public Offering, or IPO, at a low price before they are released to the market. If the IPO is well received by the market, the price will jump. That’s when this variety of scalper takes his money and runs.

You can’t really know much about martial art schools unless you can live the experience. The problem with martial arts is that it is an imported discipline to the West. How can we really judge if we are getting the best training?
Of course it doesn’t help that we most likely got introduced to Kung Fu and Karate from the mass media with so many of the movies that we see being no more then silly fantasies and even kung-fu cartoons. I just read a great blog post by a student of Jung SuWon“>Jung SuWon which was founded by Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim.
I was so impressed that I’m writing this to share with others. This is actually a series of posts that I am hoping the student will continue to add to. This person is both articulate and well educated, having attended Dartmouth College. What is very interesting is that before SarahSmile, no its not person’s real name, became involved with Jung SuWon she was on the college martial arts team competing with other Ivy League colleges. Sarah really brings the experience to life. You really get a sense that Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim takes things to another level, that you get to the heart of the spirit of this discipline, that it makes for a very positive influence over your total life, not when you just on the mats. The testing to become a black belt is really intense. I suppose most people are going to be taken aback by this level of the challenge. The problem is that most of us just sit at a desk all day and the only exercise we get is moving our fingers on a keyboard. But honestly, how many of us can still do the simple discipline of going to the gym or taking a daily walk? I can’t tell from the timeline but SarahSmile has been at this at least six years, the time it took to get a black belt. She recalls before training with Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim and when she was in college training with another master, as she says it seemed so superficial. Tae Yun Kim took her to an entirely new level.
Well, I am not quite ready to get into the martial arts but at least this helped me get off my duff & actually think about getting started.

said to ward off evil spirits and ensure a happy future for the
couple. The bride may also rip her veil slightly. This is said
to bring good luck to the couple.
The reception that follows the wedding ceremony is where the
majority of Italian traditions take place. It is customary for
the guests to assemble in the reception room before the bride
and groom arrive. You should arrange for your guests to be
served alcoholic beverages during this time. The women are
traditionally served sweet liquors while the men are served
stronger drinks. It is important that these drinks be served
before the couple arrives at the reception because tradition
holds that the guests offer a toast to the bride and the groom
the moment that they arrive at the reception.

glass as a symbol of human frailty and the hardship that their

pieces that the glass breaks into represents the number of happy
years that the couple will enjoy together.

There’s a great deal of deception in the labeling of food products found at your local grocery store and even at many health food stores. A disturbing trend I’ve noticed is that many vegetarian products and grocery items billed as “healthy” or “natural” are using chemical additive taste enhancers found in an ingredient listed right on the label.
The taste enhancer is MSG monosodium glutamate a chemical that has been associated with reproductive disorders, migraine headaches, permanent damage to the endocrine system leading to obesity, and other serious disorders. MSG is a chemical compound that simply does not belong in the body in the concentrations provided by these foods. It is used by food manufacturers as a taste enhancer something to cover up the bland tastes of these foods and make them more appealing to consumers. But food manufacturers don’t want to list MSG on the labels, especially when they know that consumers will avoid purchasing products that list MSG.
So what do they do instead? They hide the ingredient in another ingredient called “yeast extract,” then they put yeast extract in the product and list “yeast extract” right on the label. So this is the scam: all sorts of natural health products and vegetarian products are using chemical taste enhancers in the form of yeast extract, but are failing to disclose to consumers that they actually contain MSG. And if you look around at the natural health products in health food stores and grocery stores, you’ll find that yeast extract is a rather prominent ingredient. It’s used in soups, in vegetarian mixes, in some tofu mixes, and even so-called natural frozen foods.
I can personally verify that yeast extract has the same effect as MSG, because I am an individual who is extremely sensitive to MSG. Upon consuming even a small amount of MSG, I experience a severe headache that lasts for 6 to 8 hours. Consuming yeast extract causes precisely the same effect as consuming MSG.
In fact, food manufacturers don’t deny that yeast extract contains MSG it’s something that’s well-known in the food manufacturing industry. What’s going on here is a blatant deception, an attempt to mislead consumers by essentially renaming dangerous ingredients with harmless sounding names such as “yeast extract.” I believe this practice to be irresponsible and unethical, and I strongly urge you to not only avoid purchasing products made with yeast extract, but avoid products from companies that use yeast extract in any of their products. It is simply a dishonest practice, and we should not reward companies that engage in such practices by purchasing any products they manufacture.
Unfortunately, many of these food manufacturers are creating products for the so-called health foods industry. In a way that is sadly all too real, traditional grocery products and processed foods will list MSG right on the label. At the same time, so-called healthy products will use yeast extract, so they can avoid mentioning MSG on the label. Yet, both products contain MSG, and both products carry the risk of toxic side effects associated with MSG.
So, are you any safer by purchasing health foods rather than traditional grocery store foods? The answer is that you should avoid purchasing processed foods at all, regardless of what health claims are made on the label. Processed foods are unhealthy foods, period. If you want optimum nutrition, and foods for which the human body was designed, you need to purchase and consume raw ingredients, such as vegetables, fruit, nuts, whole grains, and healthy oils. It’s also a good idea, as you’ve often heard me recommend on NewsTarget.com, to supplement your diet with whole food supplements, organic vitamins, and superfoods, such as chlorella, spirulina, broccoli sprouts and sea vegetables. This is the way to achieve optimum nutrition, not by purchasing processed foods that are disguised as healthy foods, even though they contain ingredients known to induce toxic side-effects in the human body.
But don’t take my word for it check it out yourself. Next time you go to a health food store, look at the product boxes and cans on the shelves, and see just how many you can find that contain yeast extract. It’s especially easy to find with vegetarian foods, which just goes to show you that just because a product says “vegetarian” on the label doesn’t mean it’s good for you (or that the company making it gives a hoot about your health).

A couple of years ago, Tiger Woods was the undisputed
Number 1 on the professional golf circuit, and earned
the highest amount of money!
Ranked Number 1, he averaged throughout the year a
score per round of 67 and a few decimal points.
Across the calendar year, he earned an average of
$124,000 per competitive round. I don’t know about
you but my rounds normally cost me money!
Ranked 100 on the same criteria, Woody Austen
was just a little different.
Scoring an average of somewhere in the region of 69
and a few decimal points strikes per round, he earned
approximately $4500 dollars per competitive round.
The difference in money earned is massive, but the
difference in terms of physical score is minimal in
percentage terms, 2 and a bit percent!
So, we can learn from this very easily that by increasing
performance, even a tiny bit, and doing it consistently,
can have a massive impact on your earnings.
No surprises here, but how can we increase performance,
even minutely?
Simple, and the best place to start is at the beginning
by getting the basics right, just as Tiger Woods does.
Have a well formed outcome for each and every time you
engage with a customer. If you do not have a clear
picture of where you are going, how will you know
when you have arrived?
Have a structured, planned approach, every time.
Be there on time, every time, and be equipped with
the right material/tools/information, every time.
Deliver what you promise, every time.
Follow up by doing what you said you were going to do,
when you said you were doing to do it, every time.
Sell to your customers in the way that they want to
be sold to, every time.
And you know those horrible tasks you face on a regular basis?
Last minute proposals, reports, stats for the boss or even
your expenses claims? Always leaving them to the last minute,
or procrastinating to the limit?
Here’a an exercise for you.
On a piece of paper draw a vertical and horizontal axis.
Along the horizontal axis plot the hours of day from 6 in the
morning to 12 at night.
On the vertical axis put “Energy Levels” starting at
0 and going up to a maximum of 10.
Taking the vertical axis as 0-10 of your energy level,
and the horizontal axis as times throughout the working day,
just plot a curve that represents how you feel in terms of
how your energy levels vary throughout the day.
Do you see a steep rise throughout the morning, and a
slump shortly after lunch? Another rise towards the
end of the day perhaps?
Whatever your curve looks like, just identify the times
of day when you are at peak energy, this is the time that
it is best to do everything that you find difficult, dull,
boring or urgent, as you are best suited, mentally, to
perform at peak levels during these times.
Wonder how you can increase your peak levels (without drugs!)?
Try changing the 0900 to 0800, and map along the horizontal
axis like before. You will reach peak energy levels earlier
and faster, and will have gained an hour of uninterrupted
time early in the day to deal with the mush.
You should also see that you maintain a longer period of
peak performance, and although the downturn towards the
end of the day is perhaps steeper, are your clients really
going to be worried about your after hours performance levels?
Tiger Woods is never late, never has the wrong clubs, always
has a well formed outcome, always deals with the mush, and he
performs at peak when he needs to, every time.
You can do to, but do you?
What would it mean to you, your organisation, your family
and your bank balance if you increased your performance by
just a few percent, or even more?
